Department of Homeland Security Jobs: This temporary assignment is located in the Immediate Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Operations Support (OS); United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS is calling on those who want to help protect American interests and secure our Nation. DHS Components work collectively to prevent terrorism; secure borders and our transportation systems; protect the President and other dignitaries; enforce and administer immigration laws; safeguard cyberspace; and ensure resilience to disasters.

Non-CBP Federal employees are required to hold a Level 4 Background Investigation (BI). Interested applicants should check with their agency’s local Security Officer to determine their BI level. The DHS Joint Duty Program (JDP) is an intra- and inter-departmental program that offers civilian personnel professional and developmental opportunities.

US Program Management Analyst (CBP) Jobs

The DHS JDP is a human capital program initiative that is managed by OCHCO at DHS headquarters. The DHS JDP’s purpose is two-fold: to encourage and facilitate assignments of DHS personnel to other DHS components as well as outside agencies. The purpose of JDAs is to gain multi-component, multi-faceted experience focused on cross-cutting DHS and Federal-wide operations to enhance the performance of the individual, the organizations, and the Department. JDAs are for a period not to exceed 1 year and do not qualify for Joint Duty credit.

The DHS JDP covers current Federal employees at the GS-13 through GS-15 grade levels and equivalent. The DHS JDP does not apply to members of the military service or contractors. JDAs do not offer Temporary Promotions.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge in all aspects of professional quality, original video, and audio production is preferred but not required. The incumbent must be highly competent in the use of innovative and creative techniques resulting from broad experience in handling special and highly complex production projects.
  • Interpersonal and administrative skills to organize and coordinate thorough, systematic, professional communication efforts to meet complex planning needs and unanticipated requirements, and to provide written and oral reports with conclusions, alternatives, and recommendations on national policies, projects, or studies for CBP and DHS.
  • The ability to work independently as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships in both small teams and in a larger environment is first and foremost.
  • Strong writing/editing skills are preferred but not required.

Duties

  • Assist in the Planning, research, writing, and editing of internal and external publications to keep employees acquainted with current and future agency programs, using communications mediums (e.g., SharePoint, fact sheets, newsletters, posters, reports, press releases, surveys, social media websites, PowerPoint presentations, talking points).
  • Maintain OS leaders’ social media presence, and create, edit, facilitate approval, and post social media messages;
  • Manage OS leaders and OS Communications organizational e-mail distribution boxes and create, edit, facilitate approval, and post messages on behalf of OS leaders and management;
  • Assist with the OS Employee Spotlight and OS Insider newsletter programs, i.e. craft, edit, design, and post original stories;
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate program management through briefings, presentations, and conferences for OS executive management;
  • Ensure accurate, appropriately concise, and timely information is available to management, supervisors, and workers alike;
  • Direct the review of all submissions for substance, conformance with instructions, completeness, and authorizations.

Pay Scale & Grade

  • GS 13 ($106,823 – $138,868 per year)
